At The Edge of the Earth Art Journal Page

Hello All!

Still celebrating music week on my blog. This time it's an Art Journal page inspired by an AMAZING band. Their recent EP is beautiful and it has inspired me in so many ways.

The Art Journal Page -
The Song : The Edge of the Earth
The Artist: Switchfoot

Switchfoot is one of those bands that I grew up with - ever since I was old enough to have my own CD player (LOL) these kids have been on my playlist. They have a special place in my heart - I can't deny it. Their latest is an EP - kind of an extra or add-on to their current album, Fading West. If you have never heard of this band I say to you check them out! You've been missing out!

This page is composed of the song's lyrics - specially their ending chorus. I used the Golden High Flow Paint Pens (I am currently loving them - I am glad I saved enough to get a set!) to write the main verse of the lyrics.

There is currently no music video for this song, but an audio with the current EP album cover is up on YouTube.

Remember to support music artist by buying their music in your favorite digital music store : )

Art Journal(ing) Life Away

Hello All !

Today, I want to share my other love. Art Journaling. I honestly don't remember when I officially started art journaling. I was that little girl who always carried a notebook with a little bag if supplies, which most of the time included coloring pencils, pens, scissors, tape, and a GameBoy. So yeah, it was way before the iPad and Pinterest LOL.

When Pinterest started and I received an invitation to join (remember that? lol) - Art journal pages was one of the first things I searched. I was very surprised of the amount of people who actually did art journaling. It made me happy to know that there where others expressing their feelings and thoughts through this mixed media art.  My favorite tip was/is the use bubble/packing paper to make paint circles - love that! (as you can see from the page above.)
As Pinterest grew, more and more peeps started posting their pages and ideas - it was/is awesome! I'm sure that sometimes it my seem overwhelming and we might start asking ourselves questions or have some doubt in our work, so my message (more like a reminder) to every one is the following:

You don't need an expensive notebook, expensive paints, or state of the art brushes. Art journaling is the expression of thoughts and imagination using the materials that you have in hand. Materials = anything you like. So please, don't let anyone tell you that you can or can't. You can always DO! This book is yours. This notebook equals YOU! Also, stop comparing your pages with others - you are unique so that means your pages will be unique. Everyone has their own way of doing art journaling.  All you need is you, your thoughts, and your imagination. So journal away!

I hope this post serves as inspiration to start that art journal or pick up that art journal.

Have a you started an art journal? What's your favorite thing about art journaling? Has social media changed the way you do art journaling? Leave your comments below! I would love to hear from you.
